Story
A modern-day tale of fortune set in the world of West Texas oil rigs
See the top movies and TV shows by writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, ranked by user ratings. Landman, at least one of whom works in the oil industry, explores acting as a go-between for companies and landowners.
They are also part fixer, part problem solver, and part facilitator
Typically, a landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who own mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent, essentially managing and leasing the land so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman, they build roads, work spaces (human camp), assemble excavators, and dig wells in especially remote locations.
The main plot has been interesting and engaging so far, although it doesn’t go that far
CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022) Landman is my first Taylor Sheridan series, so I don’t have the same expectations as I have with a Yellowstone fan. There are several subplots in the episodes that reflect this well, but sometimes one of them negatively affects the overall quality of the show.
The direction and environmental design are to be enjoyed
I’m sure you’ll find that the visual production is remarkable. It would be interesting to hear the opinions of people working in the field on how realistic the footage is.
The actors play their characters well
Billy Bob Thornton is exemplary and really runs the show well. Overall, a very good series, visually well executed and excellently acted.
